We moved to Brackenridge many years ago, when our children were still quite young.

Abundant Joy Fellowship was then called Dayspring Christian Center and located very close to us. I can remember wondering if they had a pre-school in there for my kids. I also remember going over to Dayspring to see if they might have diapers.

You see, I was out of money, with no diapers, and two kids that still wore them.

I entered the building and Pastor Cathy came out to help me. She was very kind and said while they didn't have school in the building, Head Start and the Family Center did. She also gave me diapers!

My husband started to attend Sunday services at Dayspring. It took me longer to come to the Lord.

They had classes for the children during the Sunday services so my kids were taken care of. They also had a room for mothers with babies, and that was good for me because I was nursing my youngest as were several other mothers.

I eventually helped with the Kindergarten kids in their room. I also became the teacher for the oldest group of children. That was a position I held for a while. Pastor Ray was our leader.

In 2001 we moved up the hill and bought a house in Brackenridge.

It was during this time that Dayspring moved up the street and became Abundant Joy Fellowship. We had Pastor Greg and Cathy as our leaders. At this time we had a room for newborns that I was in charge of and a room for 2-5 year olds. They were located on the 2nd floor away from the services. When you turned 6, you came down for the worship and then went with a teacher (quite often me) up to the church house for a lesson, etc. This group of 6 year olds was accompanied by any child who was up to 11 or so.

We had a major loss during the past couple years as we lost our beloved Pastor Greg. It was a terrible shock for everyone, especially his wonderful wife, Cathy. She is now our pastor and is loved by all. My love for Abundant Joy Fellowship has lasted for over 25 years. My husband has loved it longer than I. Now that I am unable to get around as I used to, I really miss the services and all the friends that I have made over the years - my beloved church family. My husband is quite healthy and attends services each week. He also does whatever he can around the church. We both love Abundant Joy Fellowship.

Thanks for telling your story. You both have been so faithful over so many years.

I love you Tina! I love reading your story. Our kids grew up together and they loved having you as their teacher for the 5-6 year Olds at Dayspring (you let them play fishy fishy cross my sea ?). And the littles always loved when you were in the nursery at AJF and we sang deep and wide in worship and they waited for you to echo deep and wide!
You and Mick have been our friends for as long as I remember us being a part of this fellowship! We love you both so much!!! Friends are friends forever when the Lord's the Lord of them ?

Our friendship began in the church nursery 30 + years ago. We would nurse our babies and chat(sometimes complain) about what was going on in our lives. I value our continued friendship. Your lives are a testimony of God’s faithfulness and love!!
